Being a parent of a toddler is demanding, quite difficult and strenuous at some extent. There would come a time wherein potty training would be crucial. In this situation, patience must be always at hand and thus it is beneficial to learn guidelines on how to make potty training be easy for and the child.
Information on when to train your child is a must. Don’t train your child very early in his toddler years; this will result into frustrations that may manifest later on when he is already a teenager. You can start by telling your child to inform you when he is about to go. This way you can assist him in the bathroom and facilitate the learning easily as well.
You yourself must be prepared. Patience, energy, and a lot of time are needed to train your child successfully. You must be ready with these things when deciding to potty train him.
Routine is the key factor in training. Routine timing where you’ll be able to guide the child to void at a certain time such as after waking up, after lunch, before nap time or before sleeping time at night will help them remember easier.
Remember that when you are dealing with a child, making the potty training a fun experience will help the child to participate more often. You can make him sit on his potty-chair and play. You can also enhance his creativity by allowing him to pick his potty chair of his choice, put stickers on it. However, always keep in mind that along with making this training fun, you should make sure that your child is following your instructions correctly.
Rewards out of the task are usually the child’s focus, so don’t forget to give him reward when he earns it. You can give rewards by giving food, allowing him to play a little bit more than usual or accompanying them to a park. Psychologist studies show that rewards or positive appraisals are a good way to train a child to become successful in a task given to him.
There are still other ways to make this easier for your child. There may be times wherein the child just isn’t ready yet. It is essential that you find signs stating that your child is up and ready to be potty trained.
